O nome do álbum é uma gíria usada entre presidiários para designar os condenados à morte na cadeira elétrica, e a mesma é utilizada na capa do álbum. As letras do álbum abordam temas como o desespero, a desesperança, morte e medo da perda.
O álbum vendeu mais de 5 milhões de cópias nos Estados Unidos.
